In Chachoengsao province, a collision involving a 10-wheel truck and an 18-wheel trailer resulted in significant injuries for a 56 year old driver. Emergency services used extraction equipment to free him from the wreckage, amidst claims from locals that accidents are frequent in the area.
Police Lieutenant Rewat Abdin of Bang Nam Priao district received an emergency call about a 10-wheel truck colliding with the rear of an 18-wheel trailer. The impact caused the trailer to hit a parked car in front.
The incident occurred near a convenience store on Suwinthawong Road, just before a bridge in Mueang Chachoengsao district.
At the scene, a yellow Hino truck with the registration number 73-0802 from Samut Prakan was found wedged into the back of a white Hino trailer, registered as 90-4545 from Nakhon Pathom. The trailer’s forward momentum caused it to strike a black Toyota Fortuner, registration number ญน 4480 from Bangkok, parked at the front.
The truck driver, Natthawut Srikaew, was trapped and injured, with severe leg injuries.
Residents attempted to assist Natthawut, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Chachoengsao emergency services arrived promptly, using extraction tools to rescue him.

Natthawut’s left leg sustained severe injuries, with large wounds and missing tissue. He was rushed to Phutthasothorn Hospital for urgent medical care.
Natthawut explained that he set off from Bang Sai district, heading towards Chanthaburi province. Driving in the left lane under dim conditions, he did not see the stationary 18-wheel trailer until it was too late to brake or swerve. As a result, he collided with the trailer and became trapped inside his vehicle.
Pichet Phosum, the 53 year old driver of the 18-wheel trailer, recounted stopping to shop at a nearby store. Before he could exit his truck, he heard the crash that pushed his vehicle forward into the Fortuner. On inspection, he discovered Natthawut’s truck had collided with his trailer.
Lam Phengnam, a 46 year old noodle vendor located less than 5 metres from the crash site, reported that accidents frequently occur in the area, describing how she was unfazed by the incident while serving customers. She recounted instances where vehicles have narrowly missed her shop during collisions, reported KhaoSod.
Police have taken Pichit to Bang Nam Priao police station for further questioning and plan to interview Natthawut once he recovers to determine the cause of the accident and proceed with legal actions.
